Her paintings explore her transformed views as a mother of an autistic child. While receiving her BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, Ryniee developed a deep interest in reportage illustration. With reportage she was able to explore the movement of the crowds, how they moved as individuals and at other times, in unison. Over time, Ryniee was able to achieve a state that allowed her to channel raw expression as she captured narrative scenes in rhythmic, fluid moments. But, after her son’s diagnosis in 2011, she experienced another kind of learning through becoming a mother. In trying to decipher how he experienced sounds, spaces, and social interactions, she tried to inhabit his world. She noticed he was profoundly grounded in the natural spaces, which in turn affected her bond to them. He looked upon life’s moments as new adventures, approaching them with curiosity and joy. Through immersive moments in nature and their common language of awe towards it, she translates the shared energy between her, her son, and among society at large. By intuitive process, marks and swaths of color are laid down gesturally and at times graphically. Referencing the undulating path of memory, sweeping brushstrokes guide the viewer’s eye around the canvas. Ryniee had her first solo exhibition in New York City in 2023, and has been part of several group shows including at The Painting Center in New York City, NJ State Museum in Trenton, and Newport Centre in Jersey City, New Jersey. Her work is held in private, celebrity, and institutional collections across the United States, London, and Abu Dhabi.
